Hey guys,

Since this group is all about artists that are self taught, I figured I would share a post I wrote about making your own alcohol inks:!Homem…
Nothing like self made art supplies to go with your self taught art :)

If you don't know what alcohol ink is, it's ink that can be used on non-porous materials like glass, metal and ceramics. You can also use it in painting like me, I love it because it dries really quickly and I find it fun to paint with. From what I've seen online it's also heavily used in crafting and scrapbooking because you can make really cool patterns/abstract art that works great for backgrounds and embellishments. Even if you don't have use for inks, maybe you'd have fun trying to make them at least. There's also tutorials I've written on there for photoshop and illustrator; Unrelated to making inks but also helps with the whole teaching yourself thing. :)

Thank you for reading and I hope y'all who take a look enjoy it.

I usually get some reasonable not too pricey stuff at Wal-mart in the arts and craft section.Oil pastels, different hardness pencils, prisma colors, acrylic paints ,canvases and brushes. It's a good place for the low budget self taught.Combine with some quality guides and there ya go.(library ,online sites,YouTube)

But yeah for the more specific hi end quality items Micheal's or online shopping.(copic markers etc.)

Yeah that's where I usually buy my materials to make alternatives to the high end stuff at michaels. Ocean state is pretty good for premade canvases too.
